Disruption of this balance can lead to anti-fetal inflammation and long-term sequelae from congenital infection. NK cells are one major cell type critical for modulating tolerance and immunity of the maternal-fetal interface. NK cells also play an immunogenic role in protecting against viral infections, especially herpesviruses, such as CMV.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The primary questions we ask in this project are- <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>What is the role that NK cells play in protection against CMV reactivation and subsequent cCMV transmission?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What immune interactions are required for a healthy pregnancy, and how are NK cells involved in this?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"template":"","acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/labs.tulane.edu\/kaur-lab\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-projects\/344"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/labs.tulane.edu\/kaur-lab\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-projects"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/labs.tulane.edu\/kaur-lab\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/research-projects"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/labs.tulane.edu\/kaur-lab\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=344"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
